ReWork is a great book by the guys from 37Signals. (a great company with great products)
If you haven’t read it, you should.
Here’s 44 points that I thought were important for me to remember:
- Learning from mistakes is overrated: More…
Any manger worth his salt will tell you that It’s really hard to find top-tier talent.
That’s a fact. It’s also the reason why the vast majority of income is earned by such a small percentage of the population.
What do those people have that so many others don’t?
EDIT: Here’s the interview I prepared this outline for: Mixergy (you need to watch it)
Topic: [do this] and [get that]: Implement and refine systems so that you can work less, focus on whats important and earn exponentially more. Sam used systems to go from working gruelling 100 hour weeks, to working 2 hours per week and earning 20x more.
After story: The Oregon based cycling story with the important young man and his voicemail in comparison to Sam’s lack of voicemail… “all those voice mail messages attest to his status and importance, but in the bigger picture, he is a slave to his job. And the people who depend on him are slaves to his presence.”
